There’s something magical about mornings in the kitchen, especially when you’re greeted by freshly arrived mint leaves, a pack of almonds, raisins, cashews, and winter-red carrots—not to forget, cow’s fresh milk and those farm eggs.
My mind buzzed with excitement at the thought of trying out new recipes for us. Almost immediately, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for Time, Space, Materials, Equipment, Ideas, Curiosity, and, of course, Recipe Links—all of which spring to life within me when I feel this way. And one word for it: happy.
But in the very next moment, my mind jumped to an entirely different thought: Could I hold this same sense of life if today happened to be my court hearing to sort out that old litigation with my extended family?
Ah, no. Silly to put these two thoughts side by side, I mused. Each has its place, after all, and it’s not as if days of life are so rare or numbered… or are they?
But isn’t that the truth? Days of life, could become rare. The unknown, finite number of days we have to live in this body. How do I want to spend mine? How do you want to spend your day?
Cooking up a new recipe or dressing up for a court hearing?
Wait!!!
Will you instead tell me that I can come back home after a successful court session, do exactly what’s described in the first paragraph, and also possibly find the inspiration to write something that sounds like this—a nudge to mediate, to resolve things more peacefully than with a litigation fight?
Then, to that my response would be: Of course, jesi jiski soch (to each their own way of thinking). Whatever suits your day, your lifestyle, your kitchen, your mindset.
Living a life that truly nourishes you—now that’s where the recipe for mediation comes in. It’s not just about a one-time fix or a quick solution; it’s about creating a dish, a life, that’s built on conscious, mindful behavior and uplifting habits. Whisk them all together, add a dash of awareness, and fry it till you like—-what you get is the secret sauce to a peaceful, fulfilling life. Just like cooking, it’s an ongoing process—seasoned by experiences, simmered in awareness, and served with love.

Is it easy? Definitely not. I won’t claim it is. If I were to find myself deep in a dispute, I know how hard it would be. My heart would ache, my mind would spiral, and I’d feel drained in every way possible. But… What if? What if, just once, I tried something different? What if I chose the recipe of mediation before the bitterness of litigation?
So, with that in mind, I’m off to try my Mint Corsican Omelette—served flat, by the way. And yes, I’d definitely prefer that over being served a flat legal notice any day! Gajar ka halwa, without sugar but with home-made paneer, is on the menu too.
